Fall Spring Projects 2008/2009
Rebed Hardware, Recore Chainplates Garbord Drain
With season one complete a number of improvements are planned to complete the restoration and refurbishment of Nut Case. The boat is currently in very good sailing condition but a number of items for which there was no time in Spring 2008 and those that were identified during summer 2008 will be addressed.
Completed Projects:
- Acid wash (On and Off) entire hull and cockpit and wax hull (Fall 2008 - probably again in Spring)
- Install Garboard Drain
- Replace companionway hatch slider rails
- Have motor professionally serviced (new head gasket, carb kit, starter spring and general tuneup)
- Assess and install ST60 Wind if repairable (was not repairable)
- Identify and repair any remaining wet spots on deck and coachroof
- Assess sail inventory (assessed but sadly no new sails for 2009)
- Wedge beneath vang cam cleat
- Assess gas tank storage situation (will use smaller tank for 2009 and stow on races)
- Rebed all cabin top hardware
- Paint entire non skid area with Interdeck Grey
- Replace supper hoses port and starbord
- Paint interior
- Reorganize wiring from instruments
- Identify and stop all leaks. Mostly address mast water issues
- Modify charging arrangement. Currently have to drop panel to attach charger
- Repair foredeck hatch latching mechanism
- Reorganize interior with some sort of hanging locker, line storage, etc...
- Assess and install if necessary Sailcomp tactical compass
- Toilet paper roll holder (I am serious)
Planned Projects:
- Install automatic float switch and control switch for electric bilge pump
- Paint bilge
- Strengthen motor mount assembly
- Refinish all exterior teak
- Connect binnacle light
- Refinish all interior wood as required

Companionway Hatch Slider Rails
The slider rails for the companionway hatch had cracked and broken off in places. New rails were purchased from Home Depot. Aluminum 3/4" U-Channel was used.
