Identify and Repair Wet Areas Deck and Hull
When Nut Case was purchased there were very visibly obvious wet areas surrounding aft stanchions on port and starbord. Also indications of long term leakage around some of the hardware mounting bolts (no head liner shows reality clearly). In 2008 the four bade areas around stanchions were recored.
The plan for 2009 was to map out the non so obvious wet areas that almost all boats of this age have with cored decks. First step was to find a moisture meter and the second someone who knows how to use it. Moisture meters must be the pinless variety such as Electrophysics CT-33 or a Wagner model (two that I know) to read thru the fibreglass. Paints, metals inside the boat and other factors can give false readings so finding someone who knows how to use the tool is important. On May 13 a Marine Surveyor was engaged to map the deck and hull. Hull was dry (phew) and so was transom. As expected there were a number of wet areas on deck around pulpit, dorades and chain plates. The surveyor marked areas by level of content, made recommendations and then I took pictures of each area.
Identified wet spots around dorades fore & aft, pulpit, chainplates, cockpit seat and by stbd genoa track
