Pictou to Charlottetown - A blown start ....

We all know how busy the start sequence is on a boat.  In this race we set our timer at the 5 minute flag and checked at the 4 minute and again at one minute flag.  We had timed one of our best starts of the year and crossed the line among the leaders.  Unfortunately the Start flag was a couple seconds slow so we were early and did not realize this for a bit.  The picture sequence below shows a how quickly a "great start" turns to dust.

Saw these two pictures among a series from the race several weeks later.  Was quite amusing to see our boat heading in the opposite direction as the fleet...  Amazingly we finished 8 of 15 in the race and at hit a top speed of 13.9 knots

Great Start - In the lead!  Note the other boat already turned back and the second one getting ready to turn

Heading back to the start pin.  Not so great a start after all!
