Cabin Sole Replacement
The sole on a J27 is one of the features I always love on J boats. The pictures on the web when the boat was for sale were from 2000 and looked nice.

The broker had advised that the sole was damaged and sure enough he was right. Below is the existing cabin sole showing dark areas where there is rot.
Existing Sole looking aft
below - the middle section of this aft piece removed. Not pretty
New Sole.
Removing the old sole.
The remainder of the old sole was removed. One piece I literally pulled out in pieces none larger than 4 inches long & wide by ripping it out by hand! J Boats are pretty simple thank goodness. The "Floors" (seen in above picture) are angle aluminum coated in fiberglass. The water that destroyed old core did not affect stucture.
Below - new sole sections cut and first coat of Epifanes varnish applied.
Sole installed. Oh for one more holly strip! A shame to put those dirty footprints on it.
